Planned improvements near the Rose Quarter in Portland will significantly disrupt MAX service starting Sunday, August 21, continuing through Saturday, September 3.

During that time, trains will run at reduced frequency and are expected to be extremely crowded.

The work will affect the MAX Blue, Green and Red lines. Three stations will be closed: Rose Quarter Transit Center, Convention Center and NE 7th Ave. Riders should plan for extra time, or consider using TriMet's regular bus service or alternate transportation if traveling in Portland. A trip from Parkrose/Sumner Transit Center to downtown Portland, for example, will require multiple transfers during the work period. Shuttle buses will also operate near the work area.

When complete, the project will improve MAX reliability and make for a smoother ride. More information, including detailed maps and modified schedules, is available here: http://trimet.org/alerts/rosequarter/index.htm
