Partnership Formed to Highlight Works of Local Poets

C-TRAN, Lamar Transit Advertising, the Arts of Clark County, and local Poet Laureate Christopher Luna have teamed up to provide bus riders with poetry from local citizens. The project is called Poetry Moves, and will display works from various local writers inside every C-TRAN bus, starting this December.

Writers were selected through a contest, which was advertised on Facebook and through the Printed Matter Vancouver website. Christopher Luna and his Printed Matter Vancouver co-founder, Toni Partington, were judges in the competition, which was open to writers of all ages who lived in Clark County. Winners were selected through their thought-provoking, inspiring and accessible work.

The Poetry Moves partnership will officially kick off on December 13, when winners will publicly read their work at an event held at Westfield Vancouver Mall’s food court.

Displayed poems will rotate every six months. The next set of poems will specifically highlight the works of local students from various schools within Clark County. For their efforts, C-TRAN will provide each student poet with a free Youth Summer Blast Pass.

Any C-TRAN route is subject to service suspension or delay based on road conditions. Passengers are encouraged to plan ahead, know their options and keep updated so they have the very latest travel information. For details on how adverse weather may affect your route, please visit www.c-tran.com, or pick up a Snow & Ice brochure onboard your bus.
